Accounting Technicians are qualified professionals who work at all levels of finance. Accounting Technicians are widely employed throughout the public sector, industry, business and private accountancy practices. They can perform many of the same functions as accountants and are qualified to prepare full financial accounts.
Accounting Technicians fill a wide range of positions including:
- Audit Assistant
- Credit Controller
- Payroll Administrator
- Tax Advisor
- Budgeting Analyst
- Accounts Manager
- Financial Controller
- Assistant Accountant
While the Accounting Technician qualification is in itself a passport to a rewarding career, graduates may continue their studies, to become fully qualified professional Accountants.

CERTIFICATION: Diploma for Accounting Technicians (Year 2)
COURSE STRUCTURE: Students will attend college 4 days a week. Students will go on work placement 1 day a week.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Students must have completed the Certificate for Accounting Technician (Year 1) successfully before completing the Diploma for Accounting Technicians.
Student Service Contribution:
Student Service Contribution is €200.

Note:
The Accounting Technician Qualification Ireland is divided into two parts, each of which is a qualification in its own right: Certificate for Accounting Technicians (1 Year); Diploma for Accounting Technicians (2 Years)
At the end of their two years of study and having complied with all the requirements of Accounting Technicians Ireland, students will be awarded the Certificate MATI (Members of the Accounting Technicians Ireland).
Higher Education Progression
Many who qualify as Accounting Technicians go on to continue their studies, using the qualification as a steppingstone to eventually become qualified professional accountants.
